Your Vote Matters: CCBA Guide to Judicial Election and Retention

General Election - November 5, 2024

The Cook County Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee (JEC) invites you to view its ratings of candidates seeking election and retention in the November 5, 2024, General Election. The evaluations are designed to inform the public and the courts of the overall qualifications of judicial candidates. The ratings are thoroughly screened by the CCBA JEC, with final approval from the Board of Directors approval. Judges are evaluated based on six (6) key areas:

• Integrity, legal knowledge, and ability;

• Sensitivity to diversity and bias;

• Character, impartiality, and integrity;

• Temperament;

• Diligence and punctuality;

• Health and age.

Please note: The CCBA’s ratings serve solely as a guide and should not be construed as an endorsement of judicial candidates. Please note that there is one (1) judicial candidate under review. CCBA will release the remaining three candidate ratings prior to November 5, 2024.

NR = Not Recommended – Candidate failed to participate in the judicial evaluation process or participated in the judicial evaluation process and subsequently was not recommended based on qualifications.

R = Recommended for judicial office.

Rating Pending = CCBA will release candidate ratings under review before November 5, 2024.
