Welcome to the Cook County Bar Association website:
I am very proud to become President of the Cook County Bar Association in its 97TH year. I humbly accept this baton of leadership, believing that it is my duty to faithfully serve this organization with integrity. I solicit your prayers for a productive year hoping that our officers and Board members work in love and unity as we serve our membership and our partners within the community.
My theme for the year is “Cherishing Our Roots”: Past and Present. Since the establishment of the CCCBA, we are reminded of how far we have come and how far we have to go. I aspire to garner the resources of this Bar Association to re-embrace and re-energize the mission of our founders who united to advocate for themselves and defend against the injustices of racial and economic discrimination that remains systemic within the judicial system.
This year, the CCBA will administer the Minority In Court Bar Program which has been expanded to provide our members increased opportunities for court appointments to represent individuals in need of competent legal counsel. We will continue our other stellar programs including the lawyer referral and continuing legal education programs. We will continue to work with our Cook County Bar Foundation to award scholarships for law students, operate our free legal clinic, and participate in the mentorship programs for students in the community.
