Summary of Duties:

Under the direction of the Assistant General Counsel, provides accurate, concise, and practical general government/corporate legal advice to the General Counsel, Executive Director/CEO, senior staff, and corporate personnel. Provides legal counsel primarily in the public and transportation areas involving: railroad collective bargaining agreements and related labor laws, Federal Transit Administration (FTA), procurement compliance, complex public contracting, employee benefits, financing, and/or software licensing for public entities. Supervises and provides leadership involving complex and/or long-term projects or complex negotiations. Available to work flexible hours, as required, in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends. Performs other related duties as needed to meet the on-going needs of the organization.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

• Must possess a Law Degree (J.D.) with all appropriate licenses and certifications (Illinois Supreme Court).
• Must have significant legal experience as an Attorney with substantial experience in two or more of the following areas: railroad labor issues and collective bargaining; federal grant procurement matters; complex public contracting; employee benefits; employment law; intellectual property and/or public financing.
• Must have progressively responsible managerial experience, and capable of handling multiple, complex assignments on an ongoing basis in the railroad, transportation or related industry.
• Strong and effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Must have significant experience, and familiarity with computer based legal research and Microsoft Office Suites.
• Must be able to work in a demanding environment.
